چکیده

This paper presents a methodology for identifying twoperson interactions in outdoor image sequences. By recognizing and tracking two persons over consecutive frames of monocular grayscale image sequences, we classify their interactions into several classes. Some of the interaction classes are: One person leaves another stationary person; two people meet coming from different directions; and one stationary person starts following another walking person. We use side-view image sequences obtained by a fixed camera. In these image sequences the subjects are frequently occluded and move perpendicular to the direction of the camera. We present results on tracking of persons and their interactions.

Outdoor recognition at a distance by fusing gait and face

We explore the possibility of using both face and gait in enhancing human recognition at a distance performance in outdoor conditions. Although the individual performance of gait and face based biometrics at a distance under outdoor illumination conditions, walking surface changes, and time variations are poor, we show that recognition performance is significantly enhanced by combination of fac...

Learning Patterns in Images

This chapter concerns problems of learning patterns in images and image sequences, and using the obtained patterns for interpreting new images. The chapter concentrates on three problem areas: (i) semantic interpretation of color images of outdoor scenes, (ii) detection of blasting caps in x-ray images of luggage, and (iii) recognizing actions in video image sequences. It discusses the image fo...

Learning People’s Appearances from Multiple Views

In this document, a system for recognizing persons in images is proposed. It is based on learning the outer appearance of a person from image sequences. In order to accomplish this, a statistical model of every person, we want to recognize, is being learnt. Positive training data is acquired by using a distributed camera network. Video data is labeled automatically to minimize user interaction....

A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO REAL-TIME DYNAMIC BACKGROUND GENERATION BASED ON A TEMPORAL MEDIAN FILTER

In many computer vision applications, segmenting and extraction of moving objects in video sequences is an essential task. Background subtraction, by which each input image is subtracted from the reference image, has often been used for this purpose. In this paper, we offer a novel background-subtraction technique for real-time dynamic background generation using color images that are taken fro...

Learning Person-Person Interaction in Collective Activity Recognition

Collective activity is a collection of atomic activities (individual person's activity) and can hardly be distinguished by an atomic activity in isolation. The interactions among people are important cues for recognizing collective activity. In this paper, we concentrate on modeling the person-person interactions for collective activity recognition. Rather than relying on hand-craft description...
